On March 25, 2026, Global Coralition, through its operational hub EcoSoluciones RD, carried out a reforestation activity with 25 students from Liceo Lidia Martínez in Cabarete. The group was accompanied by their teacher, Frankelly, and the initiative was conducted in coordination with the Ministry of Environment.

The activity took place within the Cabarete and Goleta Lagoon Natural Monument, specifically in an area that had been affected by deforestation.

The morning began with an environmental education session, where students were introduced to the work of EcoSoluciones RD and the ecological importance of the natural monument. The discussion focused on its biodiversity, the role of native species, and the need to actively protect and restore these coastal ecosystems.

Following the introduction, the group walked approximately 15 to 20 minutes to reach the restoration site. Once there, participants received a practical demonstration on proper planting techniques before beginning the reforestation work.

During the activity, students planted approximately 350 native trees, including:

  • Mara

  • Caoba

  • Uva de playa

Throughout the morning, participation remained high, with students showing strong interest and commitment to the restoration effort.

At the end of the planting session, the group gathered for a short break and shared reflections on what they had learned, reinforcing the connection between environmental education and hands-on action.

This activity represents a meaningful step in restoring a degraded area while empowering young people to become active stewards of their natural environment. By combining knowledge with direct action, initiatives like this help strengthen long-term conservation efforts in the Cabarete region.
