On March 26, 2026, EcoSoluciones RD and CODOPESCA hosted an aquaculture workshop in Cabarete, providing local fishers with tools and knowledge to promote sustainable resource management.
On March 26, 2026, EcoSoluciones RD partnered with CODOPESCA to host an aquaculture workshop focused on sustainable fishing practices. The session took place at InspireDR from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., bringing together 12 participants, including local fishers from the Cabarete Lagoon.
The workshop aimed to strengthen local capacities and promote more responsible management of aquatic resources within the lagoon ecosystem.
Led by CODOPESCA and coordinated by EcoSoluciones RD, the session covered key topics related to sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, including:
The importance of sustainable fishing practices
Introduction to aquaculture techniques
Practical methods for fish farming, with a focus on local species found in the lagoon
Throughout the evening, participants showed strong interest and engagement, contributing to discussions and exploring how these practices could be applied within their own communities.
Beyond the technical content, the workshop also created a valuable space for dialogue and exchange among participants, reinforcing collaboration between local stakeholders.
The session concluded with a light refreshment, allowing for informal conversations and reflections on the importance of balancing livelihood activities with ecosystem conservation.
This initiative represents an important step toward building more resilient and sustainable coastal communities. By supporting local fishers with knowledge and practical tools, EcoSoluciones RD and its partners continue to promote a model where environmental protection and economic activity can coexist in balance.
