Sustainable Tourism in Action with Virgin Voyages
On March 31, 2026, EcoSoluciones RD and Global Coralition led a mangrove restoration activity with Virgin Voyages participants in the Cabarete and Goleta Lagoon Natural Monument, combining conservation, education, and sustainable tourism.
On March 31, 2026, Global Coralition, through its operational hub EcoSoluciones RD, hosted a mangrove restoration activity with 24 participants from Virgin Voyages, as part of the company’s global sustainable tourism program.
The activity took place within the Cabarete and Goleta Lagoon Natural Monument, specifically in a wetland area accessible through the collaboration of Kibayo, a boutique hotel located on the lagoon that facilitated entry to the site.
The experience began with an introduction to EcoSoluciones RD’s work and the importance of restoring and protecting coastal ecosystems. Participants learned about the ecological value of mangroves and native plants, and their role in maintaining biodiversity, stabilizing shorelines, and supporting marine life.
Following the talk, the group actively participated in a planting session, contributing to the restoration of the wetland area. By the end of the activity, a total of 205 plants had been planted, including:
Button mangrove
Sea grape
The activity was dynamic and highly participatory, with strong engagement from all attendees.
A Shared Experience Rooted in Sustainability
After the planting session, participants gathered for lunch at AddRice restaurant, located within Kibayo, where they were able to relax and reflect on the experience in a natural setting.
This activity reflects the continued collaboration between EcoSoluciones RD and Virgin Voyages, whose participants have engaged in multiple restoration efforts over time. Their ongoing involvement highlights the growing impact of sustainable tourism experiences that combine education, hands-on action, and meaningful connection with local ecosystems.
By bringing visitors directly into restoration efforts, initiatives like this help transform tourism into a force for environmental stewardship and long-term impact.
