Go Vacation joins the restoration and conservation of Cabarete & Goleta Lagoon
Go Vacation Dominican Republic employees and families planted 67 mangroves in Cabarete, expanding their partnership with Global Coralition beyond logistics.
On Saturday, September 6, 2025, Global Coralition and EcoSoluciones hosted a mangrove restoration day at the Cabarete and Goleta Lagoon in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, in collaboration with Go Vacation Dominican Republic.
The two organizations already maintain a strong partnership: Go Vacation plays a key logistical role in our restoration events with Virgin Voyages crew members, coordinating transportation from the Taino Bay port to planting sites. While this collaboration has been ongoing, this marked the first time Go Vacation Dominican Republic employees and their families took part in their own reforestation activity.
Together, 29 participants, including staff, spouses, and children, planted 67 coastal plants — 31 maras and 36 button mangroves. The day began with an introductory talk on the importance of mangroves and lagoon conservation, followed by the planting. Afterward, participants enjoyed fresh fruit, a beachfront lunch, and time to relax and swim.
This first restoration event with Go Vacation’s team expands on their existing tourism partnership with Global Coralition. Together, we are building a model where tourism and conservation efforts work hand in hand to protect ecosystems and communities.
