#HopeForCoral: Uniting Global Efforts for the Survival of Reefs
Global Coralition joins the international campaign #HopeForCoral, an initiative of the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI) aimed at inspiring collective action and restoring hope for coral reef conservation.
At a critical moment for these ecosystems, the campaign delivers a powerful message: it is still possible to reverse the damage and secure a future for coral reefs — if we act together.
A Global Call to Protect Hope
Coral reefs support nearly one-quarter of all marine life and provide livelihoods for over one billion people worldwide. Yet, they face unprecedented threats from rising sea temperatures, pollution, and overexploitation.
#HopeForCoral was launched as a global movement to shift the narrative from despair to action. Using the campaign’s hashtag, ICRI invites governments, organizations, scientists, and communities to share stories of resilience, restoration, and hope for coral reefs.
Global Coralition’s Vision
At Global Coralition, we believe that coral reefs can recover when science, community, and education come together.
Our work focuses on restoring degraded marine ecosystems and strengthening the connection between people and the ocean, fostering a culture of environmental stewardship through restoration and education.
From our base in Sosúa and Cabarete, Dominican Republic, we lead coral restoration, mangrove conservation, and environmental education programs that empower local communities and promote responsible, sustainable interaction with nature.
Our mission is to demonstrate that protecting coral reefs not only preserves biodiversity but also supports the livelihoods and resilience of coastal communities that depend on them.
Local Action, Global Impact
Through EcoSoluciones RD, our local operational hub, we are actively restoring coral and mangrove ecosystems across the north coast of the Dominican Republic. These habitats are essential for protecting shorelines, maintaining marine biodiversity, and supporting healthy reefs.
One of our most iconic restoration sites is home to Atabey, a monumental underwater sculpture symbolizing the spirit of the ocean and the connection between humanity and nature. Around Atabey, our team and community partners continue to restore coral reefs and inspire collective action beneath the waves.
Each coral fragment we restore and each mangrove we plant represent tangible acts of hope — proof that recovery is possible when we work together.
Educate, Inspire, and Mobilize
Our participation in #HopeForCoral also reflects our strong commitment to education and awareness. Through workshops, school programs, and immersive field experiences, we inspire students, tourists, and community members to become active ocean advocates.
We believe that awareness is the first step toward restoration. That’s why we share real success stories, highlight project milestones, and encourage international collaboration in marine conservation.
A Commitment to the Ocean’s Future
#HopeForCoral is more than a campaign — it’s a call to unite and build a global network of hope and action for coral reefs.
At Global Coralition, we reaffirm our dedication to marine conservation, environmental education, and ecosystem resilience.
Hope for coral lives in every project, every partnership, and every person who chooses to act.
Together, we can ensure that coral reefs remain a source of life, beauty, and balance for generations to come.
