Anakaona was the most loved and revered caciques (indigenous chief) from the island. This sculpture is launching a coral restoration effort in Playa Moron, Samana where the reef has less than 5% living tissue left.

Local fishermen are at the frontlines of reef decline. The fishermen of Playa Moron are eager to work together in a holistic approach for regeneration for long-term food and livelihood security
